West Coast Creators Blog Hop - Sending Sunshine

Welcome to our monthly blog hop! Our theme this month is the Last Chance Products that are retiring and available for purchase until May 3, 2021 or while supplies last!

I decided to give some love to the Sending Sunshine Stamp Set that is retiring along with our Sponge Brayers!

This stamp set makes it so easy to create a sunset over water! Starting with our Shimmery White Cardstock, I stamped the water in Pretty Peacock, a retiring In-Color, and used a Blender Pen to spread the ink around a little. I then stamped the sun in Daffodil Delight.

I put a Post-It Note over the water to protect it, and using Sponge Brayers (retiring!), I sponged Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo inks in the sky.

Using a Sponge Dauber, I sponged Memento Black ink around the water to create the land. I then stamped the foliage, also in black. I adhered this to a Basic Black mat.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink on Basic Black and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. I fussy cut it out and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I finished it off with Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon and mounted it on a Melon Mambo card base.

Soar, Sunset & Silhouette - Kylie's International Highlights

I can't believe it's April already and time for Kylie's International Blog Highlights with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world! The theme is "Thank You" and I thought my card would be suitable for a boy to give his father or for a parent to give their child!

Please vote for your 5 favourite cards HERE!

I used a combination of products for this card. The three stamp sets I used are Soar Confidently, Silhouette Scenes and Blossoms In Bloom for the sentiment.
I experimented with several shades of yellow/orange for the sunset sky, mostly using So Saffron, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze with a Blending Brush. The mask for the sun was made with the second largest Layering Circles die and a Post-It Note.
I matted the image layer on Basic Black and then on a Mango Melody card base.

I stamped the boy and airplane using a Stamparatus and Memento Black Ink because I wanted to get them good and dark. I used a Blender Pen to deepen the airplane by spreading some of the black ink around while still allowing the details to show.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder.

Enjoy seeing all the amazing talent and click on the top right corner of your favourite 5 until the heart turns red! If you like mine, it's  number 17! Thanks!

Ride The Range - Kylie's Top Ten Winners

Thank you so much to all of you who voted for my card with the little frog on the Stampin’ Blends/Vellum/Alcohol background! Your votes put me in the top ten in Kylie’s International Highlights!

For the Winners Hop, I decided to go with another card using the same technique! This time, I used Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight Blends on Vellum Cardstock, and I dabbed on 99% rubbing alcohol.

This technique is so much fun and look at the results! This time I thought it made a great sky background with the Open Range Dies from the Ride the Range Bundle.

The sentiment is from the Ride the Range stamp set. I used Versamark Ink and White Stampin’ Emboss Powder set with the Heat Tool.

Here is my previous card with this technique, in case you missed it!

Please enjoy hopping to see the amazing talents of the other Top Ten Winners!

West Coast Creators Blog Hop - Butterfly Bijou!

It's time for our monthly blog hop! Our theme this time is Butterflies!  Many of us are using products from the limited edition Butterfly Bouquet suite! Enjoy hopping around to see all the wonderful projects from the talented West Coast Creators!

My focus today is on the Butterfly Bijou 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. Even the butterfly was die cut from the paper using the Brilliant Wings Dies! The card base is Just Jade. I was inspired by a sketch I saw on pagemaps! The white layer was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.

I adhered two layers of the butterfly on a circle die cut in Bermuda Bay using the Painted Labels Dies. The body of the butterfly has 5 Matte Black Dots to give it some oomph!

The sentiment was die cut in Basic Black using the Well Written Dies.

Enjoy the blog hop!

Alcohol Technique - Kylie's International Highlights

Welcome! I am so excited to participate in Kylie's International Blog Highlights this month with a new-to-me technique that I've been having fun with! Be sure to vote for your favourites among the talented demonstrators from around the world!

I've seen a number of demonstrators doing this very cool technique with Stampin' Blends, Vellum Cardstock and alcohol! I've used 99% Isopropanol alcohol.

I precut the Vellum Cardstock to 5" x 3-3/4" but you can do a whole sheet and cut it later, if you like! I scribbled blotches of Stampin' Blends in Old Olive Dark, Mossy Meadow Dark and Soft Suede Dark, covering pretty much the whole piece of Vellum. I poured a little alcohol into a small bowl. I took a Water Painter with the large flat brush tip, dipped it into the alcohol and started dabbing it over the vellum, adding more alcohol to the brush as I went. Once I'd done the whole sheet, I then dipped the brush again and tapped it against my finger to flick drops of alcohol into the sheet. I then let it dry and watched the magic happen!

You could also use a regular paint brush or use the Water Painter with alcohol inside of it. I liked using the bowl as it was quick and easy!

I adhered the vellum piece to Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 5-1/4" x 4", by sponging on some Multipurpose Glue onto the vellum. The great thing about the vellum is that you can mount it on various colours of cardstock to get different effects! Try it using the same colours as the Blends to see which you like best!

I then adhered this piece to a Soft Suede card base, 8-1/2" by 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".

I punched a Very Vanilla oval using the Double Oval Punch. The little frog from By the Dock and the sentiment from Field Journal were stamped in Soft Suede ink and the frog was coloured in with Old Olive Blends. I unraveled the ends of a piece of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim, adhered it with Mini Glue Dots and adhered the oval with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hope you have as much fun as I've had with this technique! I'll be using it on some future projects as well! Enjoy!

Butterfly Bouquet Blog Hop & Tutorial!

Don't you just love butterflies? If so, you will LOVE this blog hop! We are featuring the new Butterfly Bouquet Bundle of products which will be available to you from March 2 - May 3, 2021!

Be sure to check out all the talented designers by clicking on the blog hop links below!

I'm also providing a FREE tutorial which you can print on one sheet!

One of the awesome things about this bundle is that the large die in the Brilliant Wings Dies cuts out the butterflies on the Butterfly Bijou 6x6 Designer Series Paper and it cuts out 6 butterflies at once!

I've layered two of them together on this card to give it some dimension, and I adhered 4 Matte Black Dots on the body!

There are no sentiments with the stamp set so I borrowed one from Tranquil Thoughts which you'll find in the January - June 2021 Mini Catalogue!
